“This was not just limited to Bengal but also other teams like the Gujarat Lions which was selected in a ‘giant of the Gabba’ (IIT-B) tournament and had no support of the CPL,” the statement further said.
The Bengal Lions went out of the 2014 ICC T20I finals against England in which they lost by a run, and their fate is unclear as they do not play for another Test series until January 2017. They won the 2013 T20I competition and have two years left of their contract before that.
The A team of Sri Lanka have also been dropped from the last tour match, the 2010 tour of New Zealand which they lost 4-1. This team is the last one from Sri Lanka to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It had lost its last two matches in the IPL as well when New Zealand beat them 1-0 in the second round in 2010. They also lost in the inaugural ODI. Sri Lanka are yet to play in the domestic T20L.

The minister said the woman, who is aged 65, was at the hospital “the best part of the last decade” before coming back to Ireland.
Mr Dáil member Pearse Doherty had described her as an example of the way in which the State could treat people.
He added that she had been treated by a specialist in Irish health care.
He said: “She had come back after the death of her husband and has since been discharged from hospital.
“She was well spoken and well behaved throughout our visit.”
Mr Dáil TD Paddy McNamara said that when the woman came back to Ireland, she had been referred to a specialist in Irish hospital services.
He said she was discharged within days of having arrived at hospital.
Mr Dáil member Alan Kelly said that her return to Ireland suggested there had been no neglect or abuse of her care by those in charge of the facility.
He said: “I have heard from senior officials of the health authority of Northern Ireland that this is a case of care being neglected and abused and the woman has indicated that the family are well-resourced to cope with a nursing home like that in their home country.”
The Minister for Health Simon Harris welcomed the intervention by the Minister for Health Dr Richard Bruton, and said he hoped Mr Dáil would “stand up for the elderly in this country by taking the time he has required to speak to and talk to these women”.
